Characteristics of living organisms
- All living organisms share the same characteristics
- Acronym: MRS H GREN

| Respiration | Chemical reactions that break down glucose to release energy needed for cellular activities |
| Sensitivity | Ability to detect and respond to stimuli in the surroundings |
| Homeostasis | Control of internal environment in order to keep conditions within required limits |
| Growth | Permanent increase in size |
| Reproduction | Production of more of the same kind of organism |
| Excretion | Removal of toxic materials and wastes from organisms |
| Nutrition | Taking of food to provide energy |
